Hey, Mommy! I think I ate a soda can! Look in my mouth!
I'm going into the story time box now. Ta Ta!
I'll help you do the laundry tonight. I want to throw the clothes from the washer into the dryer all by myself. But, first....I'm going to need some encouragement.

Random Quotes from Cole
Just tonight, within a 20 minute time span, these jewels came out of Cole's mouth:
Phone call
On my way to work this morning, my cell phone rings. Turns out, it is the doctor's office. Chase's orthopaedic surgeon, to be exact. After reviewing the x-rays one more time late Friday, Dr. G has come to the conclusion that, due to the amount of healing visible on Chase's x-rays, he is convinced that there is (was?) a hip fracture too. Ugh.
Thankfully, Chase doesn't appear to be in too much hip pain. And, we're keeping our fingers crossed that he is healing well and not having a cast/brace on his hip hasn't caused any permanent damage. I tend to think he is OK since he is crawling a little "odd" with the cast off and not wanting to put any weight on his sore leg. And, this new way of crawling requires quite a bit of hip movement. At any rate, we're going back in July for more x-rays to have the little guy looked again. And, let's hope he is completely healed by then.

Got the cast off!
Now that we are rid of the helmet and cast, I think the little guy finally gets to enjoy being a "normal" kid again! (Not to mention, I think he is pounds lighter!!)

No more helmet!!!!
Last week, the orthotist told us that Chase had no more adjustments left in his helmet and that, as far as he was concerned, he could stop wearing it. However, we had to wait for the official determination by the plastic surgeon. And, that's where we headed off to today.
I had to take the original plaster casting of Chase's head (which, by the way, is a little spooky carrying around your child's head on a stick!) from back in December. That way the doctor could compare his head then and now. He was amazed at the difference! And, he, too, agreed that it was time to lose the helmet!
What a relief to finally be rid of that thing! Although I'm thankful that we were able to get him this treatment, it is such a relief to be done with it! No more trips to the orthotist's office. No more visits to the plastic surgeon. No more daily cleanings of the helmet and making sure Chase's hair is washed every single day. Hopefully, life will be a little easier for all of us with it gone!
Both the plastic surgeon and orthotist felt that Chase made an approximate 60% improvement. And, although those are "typical" results, I feel like they are excellent considering we were originally told to expect only a 30% improvement. His head still isn't perfectly round. And, one side of his face is still slightly larger than the other. But, ya know what? We don't care! It isn't that noticable by anyone other than us (and that's only because we know its like that!). And, we would think he was adorable even if he had 3 eyes and 4 noses! :)

Another trip to the ER!
This time it was Cole who took a fall down the stairs!
And, seriously, if we have to make another trip to the ER and tell them "he fell down the stairs" again, I swear Child Protective Services is going to open a case file on us! Thankfully no one in the ER gave us the accusing eye or asked any further questions. But, in this day and age, its hard not to feel like you are under scrutiny for child abuse when you drag a hurt kid in for treatment!
Anyway, last night our realtor was out at the house officially putting our house on the market. She and Chris went out to the garage and Cole wanted to tag along. He started down the stairs with Mommy right behind him. All of the sudden, he caught the tip of his shoe (the rubber sole that wraps up to the toe area) on the carpet, and down he went. It was like it happened in slow motion. I was right there, but couldn't move fast enouch to catch him before he landed head first onto the tile floor.
I scooped him up and immediately started inspecting him for any sign of injury. I had him turn his neck side-to-side and up/down. He could do it! And, I inspected the top of his head, thinking that is where he landed. After a couple of minutes of not finding anything, he quit sreaming long enough to turn his head toward me. And, that's when I saw it. A HUGE black and blue knot the size of an egg sticking right out of his forehead!!!!!!!!!
So, off to the ER we went. We even got good ol' Exam Room #7 again--the same room Chase was in just 3 weeks earlier! And, after waiting over 2 hours to been seen by the doctor, Cole had quit screaming and kicking us out of sheer exhaustion. By the time the doctor came into the room, he was back to his old self....asking 10,000 questions about how the equipment worked. And, the doctor agreed that he was just fine. He just has a nasty bump and bruise!

Soccer
Cole went to his first soccer practice this morning! He has really been looking forward to it for quite a few weeks, so when he found out that today was the day he had been looking forward to, he couldn't wait to get on the field! The kids rotated through various skill building stations (as they don't really play games at this age). He had a great time and is already talking about going back next Saturday!

Chase's Fun!
Chase was busily playing in his room this morning while I was sorting through a pile of clothes that Cole outgrew last year. (Is it sad that Chase is already wearing clothes that Cole started preschool in last year?) Anyway, never one to be content with playing with his toys, I saw him crawl out the door and into the bathroom. I figured he was going to find the bath toys stashed under the bathroom sink, as he normally does. After a minute or two, I realized that I hadn't actually heard any bath toys rattling around. In fact, it was quiet. Too quiet. And, as you know, a quiet baby or toddler is never a good thing...
I peeked into the bathroom to find him playing in the toilet paper!!! And, boy was he having fun!!! (Of course, I had to snap a few pictures before I got after him!) I guess we'll have to keep the bathroom door shut from now on!

Busy, busy!
There hasn't been much news to report about the boys in the last week or so, and therefore, the lack of updates on the blog. They continue to be adorable as always! Cole is still working on his reading skills and Chase is crawling everywhere and getting into everything! He could care less about playing with toys. Its much more fun to try to open every cabinet and drawer and empty the contents on the floor!
Mommy and Daddy have been frantically working the last two weeks preparing to buy a new (to us) house! That has entailed viewing the house and figuring out what it will cost to renovate it. Its a structurally good house, in an awesome location, on 5 acres. Plenty of room for the boys to run and play! But, the house itself needs lots of TLC. So, we've been crunching the numbers, touring the "new" house a few times, and working with our realtor to get our current home on the market. Its been a whirlwind as this opportunity came up suddently and we had to jump on it.
The blog may slow down a bit while we continue to work on our house situation. But, I'll update as often as I can!
