First Day of 2nd Grade

Here's my big guy on his first day of second grade! Isn't he handsome?

And...so grown up?












We spent quite a long time waiting for the school bus this morning. (The first few days are always the worst with the bus running nearly an hour late!) Waiting for the bus...sitting in the car!

Overall, he had a great first day of school! He loves his new teacher, and really enjoyed his new class. And, the best part of all? NO HOMEWORK!

Last days of summer

Here are a few pics of the boys enjoying their last days of summer. School will be starting soon and all this fun will have to come to an end so we can get back to reading, writing, and homework. 

Ah...homework....how I loathe thee....    Why are kids given so much homework these days?  Sigh. 

In the meantime...enjoy the boys getting ready for rides in the the hot rod and  doing their best imitations of guns.  Or air guitar.  Or, maybe both.  Who knows.

True Story

As the 4 of us were driving home from Bible School tonight, the following conversation took place:

Chase: There's that place Nonnie goes!
Mom: Where?
Chase: That place right there!
Daddy: (joking) The physical therapy place or the liquor store?
Cole: THE LIQUOR STORE!!!
Daddy: What do they sell there?
Cole: Licorice, Dad!

(And, just for the record...Nonnie has never stepped foot into the liquor store!) Ha ha!

Bible School Fun

The boys attended Bible School this year for the first time and LOVED it! And, I don't mean just a little. They begged to go back every day, and when the last day rolled around, they were very upset that they couldn't go back!

Each evening started with dinner at the church. They waited in line with friends, fixed their own plates (maybe with just a tiny bit of help from Mommy!), and then found their table to eat alongside more friends. After dinner ended, they hurried off to their classrooms! And, the evening ended after songs in the sanctuary and Mom and Dad coming to pick them up. It was a fun week for the boys, and they can't wait to go back next summer!

The theme was based around cooking ("Shake It Up Cafe"), and here are a few pics of the fun projects they worked on!
