Thank you, Uncle Darrell!

The boys received the coolest gift today... Uncle Darrell (who is a golf pro in Las Vegas) sent them a BIG box of golf stuff!!! It could not have come at a better time either! With all this snow, the boys have had way too many show days to even count! And, even though Cole would much prefer staying home over going to school, the kids are starting to get bored!

As we were eating lunch today, we saw the FedEx truck stop on the street. (The snow is still too deep in our driveway for the truck to even attempt to drive on it!) I was happy to see the driver carrying the box down the driveway! I even thought, "Wow!! This is great customer service!"

Yeah...about 15 feet down the driveway, he changed his mind, dumped the box, and left. *sigh* So, I had to put on my coat, gloves, and boots to tromp my way through the snow and then carry this huge box back to the house!

Once inside, it was like Christmas all over again! The boys were so excited to see that Uncle Darrell had sent 4 clubs (2 of them putters), a putting mat, a hitting mat (which won't be used until we can get outside!!!), tees, balls, and 2 childrens' golfing handbooks!

Immediately, we set up the putting mat in the basement and they boys went crazy perfecting their golf skills!

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Uncle Darrell and lots of big hugs!!! :)

Snow Ice Cream

What's a person to do with all this snow on the ground? Make ice cream, of course!!!

With the boys STILL out of school with yet another snow day, this seemed like a fun way to break up the boredom! Mommy trapsed out in the -12 degree temperatures to find some good, CLEAN snow!

And, here we are at 10:00am in the morning, eating ice cream!

I'm betting we'll be making more this afternoon, too! Yum!! :)

Cole Lost His First Tooth!!!

Cole has been wiggling his loose tooth for weeks now. And, with the permanent tooth already coming in well behind his baby teeth (yes...he's gonna need braces one day), we've been telling him he needs to get that tooth out as soon as he can!

Two nights ago, during the blizzard, he finally worked up enough nerve to try to pull the tooth on his own. He worked and worked, but just couldn't get it out. We told him to give up and just wait a day or two, that maybe it just wasn't ready yet.

Early this morning, Cole came running into Mommy and Daddy's bedroom full of excitement! "I pulled my tooth! I pulled my tooth!" And, there it was...the little tooth was in his hand! And, he had a nice, big hole in his mouth where it had been!

Cole told us that he woke up, but had not get out of bed yet, and was laying there wiggling his tooth when it literally just fell out! (Thankfully it fell forward and not backward where he might have swallowed it!!)

I guess the tooth fairy will be making her first visit to our house tonight!

Digging Out

Today was the day for digging out after yesterday's blizzard! It took Daddy nearly 4 hours to shovel a path to get Mommy's Hummer out of the garage!

Look at how deep it was by the garage!

The driveway after Daddy drove down it once. The snow was so deep, you can see where the skid plate under the Hummer flattened out the area between the tire tracks!

Daddy's little helper! Good thing we have that John Deere! :)

BLIZZARD 2011

Today we are in the midst of a blizzard!!! We got at least a foot of snow! The snow was so heavy at times, you could not see the neighbors' houses! Crazy, to say the least!

We had taken Cole to Nonnie's house that morning, while Chase went to NaNa and PaPa's house, so Mommy and Daddy could work. By that afternoon, it was nearly impossible to drive down the road. The snow plows gave up and quit plowing for many hours.

Daddy managed to get Cole picked up from Nonnie (who just lives a few doors down the road). But, Chase? Even though he was just 2 miles away, it was impossible to get him. He ended up staying the night with NaNa and PaPa that night!

Daddy leaving to get Cole.

Coming back home.

By that evening, we not only had a foot of snow on the ground, we also had 2-3 foot snow drifts everywhere! The heaviest of those, of course, was on our driveway, walkways, and piled up next to the garage door!

Taken out the side door.

At one point, Daddy decided he was up for an adventure, and literally waded down to the building to check on things down there. He went through snow drifts that went up to mid-thigh! When he finally made it to the building, he was surprised to find that it had actually snowed INSIDE!!! The wind had blew snow in around every door and window!
