Cole's Go-Kart

Cole has been working really hard over the summer to build a go-kart (and maybe getting a little help from Daddy!). Well, its not a true go-kart, I guess, since it doesn't have an engine. Instead, its more like a wooden kart with bicycle tires and a rope to steer. And, if he starts at the top of the hill, he can coast all the way into the building. Gee, maybe some brakes are in order next?

A start....

Cole....contemplating his design.

Starting to take shape!

UPDATE:  (August 2013)
And, here is the finished product!
(This pic was taken a year later....but they are still playing with this go-kart!)

First Day of School!!

Where did the summer go????  And, even more importantly.....how is it that my little baby is starting Kindergarten today?  Sniffle.

Chase was a little nervous about getting on that school bus to head off to Kindergarten, but he handled it like a champ!  (I guess it helps to have a big brother to ride with you!)

While waiting for the bus, Chase had time to run through the crab-apple trees!

Chase trying his hardest to get that apple!

The boys had an super first day of school!  They both came home really excited and couldn't wait to tell us all about their day!  And, they got a little surprise when they came home too....  balloon bouquets from MomMom and Big Grandad!

Here's hoping the rest of the school year is as awesome as today was!

The first of many...

School has been in session just 6 days.  And, that's just exactly how long it took to get my first phone call from the Kindergarten teacher.  While this was the first phone call, it isn't the first time Chase has decided to get into trouble this school year.

I have already signed and returned one "Oops" form where Chase had his hands in a girl's face at lunch and caused her water bottle to smack into her face while she was trying to take a drink.  And, then there are the 2 incidents on the school bus where Chase has had trouble keeping his hands to himself.

Anyway, so today I got the first live phone call.  Mrs. Ullah called to tell me that Chase not only spent the entire day crying, off and on.  But, when he isn't crying, he is being ornery. (Shocking.)  Today, apparently, was an ornery day....

While in the restroom this afternoon, Chase decided to smack some kid's bare butt as he walked by!!!  (OMG.)  Mrs. Ullah disciplined Chase, took away recess, and made his life not-so-fun for the rest of the day.  And, after school had been dismissed, that's when I received the phone call to tell me about what had happened.

To make matter worse, the other little boy's parents are upset (understandably) and have contacted the teacher as well.  Great.  Can't wait for the first school program when we get to sit next to those parents.  That introduction ought to be fun....

I think we're going to have our hands full with Mr. Chase this year.  Let's hope the rest of the school year goes better than the first 6 days have gone...
