Over the weekend, Chase has learned a couple of new things! He now claps his hands together and does "patty-cake" and he has also started waving bye-bye! And, if you watch the video, I swear he even says "bye-bye"!!!!!!

Helmet Update -- 1 month
Today marks 1 full month that Chase has worn his helmet. And, as I have mentioned in previous posts, everyone is just amazed with the progress he has made! Just so you can see for yourself, here is a before shot and a shot from today! Especially notice how much more round the back of his head is!

Keeping the medical professionals in business
If you read this post about how much time we're spending in doctors' offices lately, then it should be no surprise that it hasn't stopped yet!
If you'll remember, last Friday I took Cole to Urgent Care where he was diagnosed with a double ear infection. We immediately got his medicine and expected him to start feeling better over the weekend. By Monday, he wasn't better so I left work early in order to get him seen by the same doctor who looked at his ears on Friday. Turns out his ears were worse instead of better! Another (stronger) antibiotic prescription and we were on our way. And, I think that Cole *might* actually be feeling a tiny bit better.
However, now Cole has graciously decided to share his lovely virus with Nonnie, Mommy and Daddy! (Thanks, son.) Looks like there may be more doctor's visits in our future. (Especially since Mommy and Daddy are going on vacation soon and we absolutely cannot be sick!!!)
Oh, and I nearly forgot to mention the oddest side effect with Cole's new meds. Bright RED poop. Yeah, that's freaky!

More doctors appointments!
Some weeks, I feel like I just live in the waiting room at doctors' offices! And, this has definately been one of those weeks! Yesterday it was the orthotist and the plastic surgeon for Chase. Today it was the physical therapist for Chase and then over to Urgent Care for Cole.
Poor Cole was a little congested last night when I picked him up. I thought, "uh-oh, he's getting sick" but little did I know! He went to bed at 9pm, but was up at midnight asking me what was all over his hands and face. He told me he thought it was oil from the car. In the dark, I reached over to feel him only to relize it was snot and drool. Everywhere. (And, I was sure to point out that he drools too sometimes! And, let me tell you, that was the WRONG thing to say!!! Ha!)
From that point on, Mommy, Daddy, and Cole were up most of the night. Every hour, on the hour, Cole had to potty. And, that involved a screaming fit until Mommy went to the bathroom to pull his pants down for him. And, then we had numerous fits over Kleenex and wiping his nose. You probably heard him at your house yelling, "No, YOU do it NOW!! You wipe my NOSE!"
So, after physical therapy today, we dropped by Urgent Care. Turns out, Cole has a double ear infection! So, I guess that would explain why he was so cranky last night and wouldn't sleep! Thankfully we got antibiotics and I'm hoping that by Monday, he will be feeling better and back to his old self again!
Let's just hope we get more than 2.5 hours of sleep tonight! :)

Making progress!
Chase had a follow-up appointment today with the plastic surgeon. Long story short, Dr. C couldn't have been more pleased with his head shape and the helmet! He was amazed that in just 3 week's time that he has already made such a huge improvement! He told me that what he saw today is what he would have expected at the END of treatment, not just 3 weeks into it! And, he further emphasized that we should get really great results since he'd expect Chase to wear the helmet approximately 8 more weeks!

Somewhere DEEP DOWN he really does love me...
Cole spent the night at Nonnie's and Baby Granddad's house tonight because: (1) he has school tomorrow, and (2) I'll be busy shuttling Chase all around town tomorrow to doctor's appointments. Having Cole stay with Nonnie will eliminate me taking him to school and risking being late to the doctor.
So, after work tonight, I only picked up Chase. I thought Cole might not like me taking the drool monster and leaving him behind. However, he was so busy playing his Leapster and chatting with Nonnie that he barely even looked up. I asked him for a hug goodbye and he ignored me totally! A few minutes later...

Mom: Cole, I won't see you until tomorrow. Can I have a hug goodbye?
Cole: [pondering] Nooooooo. You don't need one. But, thanks for visiting.
