"Feetball" Season!

Today was the KC Chiefs home opener and when game time rolled around, I told the kids I was going to turn off Spongebob Squarepants (or "Spongebob Scare-pants" as Chase says!) and turn on the Chiefs game. Cole immediately went outside to play as he could care less about sports. But, Chase ran upstairs hollering something out needing his helmet. He dug around in Cole's closet until he found his big brothers bike helmet. Next, I found a football for him, strapped on the helmet, and he was one happy kid! He watched the game for a few minutes and then proceeded to host his own game at home!

He ran all over the house kicking the ball, tossing it in the air, tackling the couch, and throwing himself on the ball! It was quite hysterical! I think this kid is going to be our sports fan!

Our little visitor...

After the kids went to bed tonight, Daddy and Mommy were very surprised to see this little guy just sitting on our deck! He probably sat there for 15 minutes or so...just looking around, licking his paws, and trying to find a midnight snack in our BBQ grill!

Cole-isms

It has been a LOOOONG time since I have posted any of Cole's hillarious sayings! So, here are a couple of recent ones for your amusement:

1. "Mom!!!! Get this heart attack baby out of my room!!!"

2. The boys were a little wound up at dinner last night. Neither one could stay in their chairs. When Chase started yelling too, Cole said, "Mom, Chase can NOT control his impulses." Just so matter-of-fact!

No more physical therapy!

Today we got the official word that Chase has graduated from physical therapy! Yippee! It has been 2 long years for the poor kid, not to mention countless 45 minute drives (one way). But, that has now all come to an end!

I think Chase is honestly a little sad that he won't be playing with Miss Jen any longer! He really liked her and never minded going to PT. We have been such a long-time patient at the clinic that we have been through 2 therapists and 3 office moves. We have seen the clinic grow from a tiny 2 room drab office, to a larger multi-room facility, and were lucky (?) enough to get to play in the brand new space they just opened days ago. The new space is very large and decorated so cute! The entire place looks like a treehouse, complete with an indoor slide area!

Chase's torticollis isn't 100% cured. But, he has definately made progress. And, I really don't think that his neck tilt is noticable to anyone who isn't specifically looking for it. We began this journey at 4 months old when he couldn't turn his head to the left. Center was a far as he could go. After a year of PT without much progress, we resorted to Botox injections, which helped immensely! Another year of PT and a helmet, and here we are. He looks great!

Thanks, Miss Jen, for all your hard work and support! We will miss you!

Dragonfruit

Chase really never sits for long periods of time. If he makes it through one 30-minute Handy Manny, then that is a major accomplishment! So, for him to sit through an entire 2-hour movie? Well, that is unheard of! But, I guess we had just never played the right movie!

He was digging through the cabinet of DVDs tonight (making a mess, like usual!). And, then he brought me "Pete's Dragon" and asked to watch it. I thought, "Yeah, right." But, went ahead and put the movie in just for kicks. He was glued. Never moved a muscle the entire time the movie was on!!!

A couple of days later, he asked me about "Dragon Fruit." And, for a little while, I didn't understand what he was talking about. And, then....it finally dawned on me that he wanted "Pete's Dragon." And, the dragon's "fruit" he was talking about...that the scene where Pete was sitting on Eliott's chest eating the apples Elliot cooked with his fire breathing abilities! :) Chase was most impressed with that scene!
